NAPPING POLICIES 

A cot will be provided for toddler, pre-school, and kindergarten children (if needed).  Children will have the opportunity to complete a nap or rest.  Shepherds Inn provides all blankets, pillows and coverings for cots.  

BEHAVIOR GUIDANCE

Our staff provides positive role models and discusses rules with the children.  We believe in reinforcing good behavior and teaching the children constructive alternatives to problem solving.  Discussion of problems with the children as they arise and redirection is key to our staff working with the children.  If negative behavior is persistent or extreme, we have a Behavior Guidance Policy & Procedure to follow.  This policy can be reviewed if needed.  Parents are encouraged to visit daycare at any time of operation! Shepherd's Inn reserves the right. Shepherd's Inn is committed to maintaining a safe and respectful environment for all guests and staff. As such, we reserve the right to dismiss or remove individuals who do not adhere to our policies and values. Thank you for your understanding.

DAYCARE CLOSINGS

Due to winter storms, if the Elk River Schools are closed before 6:00am., The Shepherds Inn Daycare will also be closed.   Listen to WCCO radio for school closings.  If schools don’t close or are two hours late, we will be open.  If Elk River schools close early during the day due to winter storms, we will stay open until all the children have been safely picked up.

PROPERTY AESTHETICS

Shepherds Inn has their own large fenced-in playground and smaller fenced-in playground with many large muscle pieces of equipment, along with a large sand box area enhanced with a variety of toys.  We are located in a very quiet neighborhood with a large amount of acreage which gives us wonderful walking areas. Shepherds Inn also has hills for winter sliding and a very large parking area for special bike days.  We have areas to go on picnics, a volleyball court, and an area for soccer or baseball games.  

FIELD TRIPS

Due to the many activities available on the Shepherds Inn location, field trips will only be on very special occasions.  Field trips will be posted for parent information.  There will be an additional fee and a field trip permission slip will need to be signed and filled out for each outing.
